The project concerns the refurbishment of part of an office property complex delivered in 1985, located in the municipality of Courbevoie. The complex is made up, in superstructure, of two distinct buildings (A and B), now called Watt (A) and Ampère (B). The latter has already undergone a restructuring.
Because of its geographical position and its low height (ground floor + 9), this property complex cannot compete with the surrounding towers. The initial idea is therefore to resonate with the Ampère building in order to regain strength together while keeping their specific features.
The project also aims to encourage interaction between the building and the city: its entrance is made more obvious by a double-height space at the prow, visible from the La Défense esplanade. This sequence is part of a base created over 2 levels that reveal the existing load-bearing structure lifting the main body of the building. We thus regain a more urban scale, in dialogue with rue Henri Regnault and the future mall.
Finally, this refurbishment makes it possible to change scale: once the building is lifted, the aim is to break the effect of endlessly stacked levels. The main body of the building is restructured in a new order of 3 more generous strata, in dialogue with the Ampère building, which also erases the narrow 1.30 m office grid currently visible on the façade.
