The Le Monde group building was designed by the Norwegian agency Snøhetta, which has established itself in recent years as a major player on the international architectural scene.
The Norwegian agency used the urban planning constraints to draw the project. The plot is in fact made up of three slabs located above the railway tracks, one of which, the central slab, cannot be built on: hence the idea of a bridge-building spanning a forecourt, at the cost of a genuine architectural feat consisting of a steel structure comparable to that of a footbridge, from which steel and concrete floors are suspended.
The Le Monde building reflects the relationship between the media’s digital presence and its analogue presence.
The building is also clad in a pixelated glass façade, a skin that plays on variations of transparency and opacity.
