Originally created for the 1900 World’s Fair by architects Henri Deglane, Louis-Albert Louvet, and Albert Thomas, the Grand Palais is now an iconic building that hosts major exhibitions and events such as the International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC) and Fashion Week.
The Grand Palais is currently undergoing a major restoration and refurbishment project to enhance its architecture and redesign its spaces, circulation routes, and lighting. This renovation is being carried out in preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games.
The renovation aims to increase the venue’s capacity from 16,500 to 25,000 people, create additional usable and exhibition space, facilitate public access with a common reception hall for exhibitions and the Palais de la Découverte, improve the use of the building by optimizing its operation, and secure and bring the premises up to standard.
