Current construction practices are often at odds with biodiversity challenges. In this context, Arcora is conducting research led by Alice Jouhannet on technical and construction solutions, as well as characterizing the risk of aggravating fire spread with façade greening systems. The aim is to advance knowledge on integrating living systems into façades and its regulatory framework, and to guide all building stakeholders toward choices with less impact on biodiversity.
In collaboration with Actierra, Ingérop’s environmental subsidiary (Paul Cassagnes’ team in Tours), and Efectis, an accredited laboratory for fire reaction and resistance, the study led by Alice Jouhannet, Deputy Project Manager at Arcora, along with Antoine Laugier and Florent Cappoen, Project Directors, focuses on the risk of worsening fire spread linked to façade greening to define best practices for limiting this risk. This study addresses a regulatory and normative framework that is still insufficient regarding the integration of biodiversity into façades and a lack of knowledge regarding the fire behavior of green façades.
